Ok, so the 2009 DVAL season is gonna be a real chase to see who wins the league title this year. Just by looking at the preseason standings thus far, it looks to be a very competative league. However, don't look too far into it. These are the current standings after Oct. 2nd.

Standings Overall League Streak

Clayton Valley 5 - 0 0 - 0 W - 5

Ygnacio Valley 4 - 0  0 - 0 W - 4

Concord 4 - 1 0 - 0 W - 1

Mt. Diablo 4 - 1 0 - 0 L - 1

Northgate 3 - 1 0 - 0 W - 1

College Park 2 - 3 0 - 0 W - 1

Now, are there any suprises thus far?? The answer is ... "yes" and "no."

Not suprised to see Clayton Valley at 5 - 0. The Ugly Eagles just beat a very fast and sharp North salinas team in a game that looked more like and NCS Championship battle. Litterally down to the wire. But im not suprised to see that they are 5 - 0. They have an amzaing defense yet again this year. There offense has really come around, especially the passing game. With tough games against North Salinas and Vintage and Dublin, the Ealges faught hard and came out on top.

Ygnacio Valley is a suprise. With a new coaching staff, the Warriors seem to finally have some well rounded guidence. They have played 3 teams that had winning records last year and have won every game by almost 3 touchdowns. Good Job Warriors. the game to look out for is gonna be when they tavel to Calyton Valley for a huge DVAL matchup on October 30th. It wouldn't suprise me to see the stadium at Clayton Valley SOLD OUT by the 4th quarter of the JV game.

Concord. Wow, what do i say about the Minutemen? With a great ground game returning to the line up this year, im not suprised to see them at 4 - 1. However, they have played against the weakest preseason schedule. They won 2 games by 54 points or more, beat Jefferson by 30 and Castlemont by 18. they played 4 of their 5 pre-season games against schools that combined for a record of 11 - 28 -1 last year. Weak games really are not gonna get them ready for when they have to play schools like Clayton Valley or Ygnacio Valley this year. Look what happened when they played a San Ramon team that actually had talent. They lost. They are gonna be very tough in league, but they better get ready to see some teams that hit hard and play hard.

Mt. Diablo at 4 - 1 is this biggest shock. But then again, they like Concord, have played a very weak pre-season schedule. All 5 of their games, their oppenents combined for a reacord of 11 - 39 last year. Including a team that went 1 - 9 and a team that went 0 - 10. Look out Red Devils, now your gonna play teams that are just the opposite. Mt. Diablo gets maybe 1 or 2 wins in league in 2009.

Northgate is 3 - 1??!! They have 3 wins?? Thats already one more than last year. But wait!! they too have played a team that went 0 - 10 last year. Their three victories came against schools that combined for a record of 4 - 26 last year. When they met Las Lomas in the battle of the creek this year, Northgate got stomped on. Not only that, but thier star quarterback is out. Looks like a long league season for the Broncos. Maybe they get an upset win, but it looks like another 0 - 5 league season this year.

College Park, as played the toughest schedule for the pre-season. At 2 - 3 the Falcons got themselves ready for the DVAL this year. With a huge win over Freedom that went 9 -1 last year, the Falcons got a big win taking them into league. But, they will have trouble with CV, YV and a real shootout with Concord & Mt. Diablo. However, i think the Falcons come out with 2 or 3 wins in league this year.

Overall, here is what we may see at the end of League in 2009

Clayton Valley 5 - 0

Ygnacio Valley 4 - 1

College Park 3 - 2

Concord 2 - 3

Mt. Diablo 1 - 4

Northgate 0 - 5

Games to watch for in league play:

October 16th - Concord @ College Park

October 23rd - Concord @ Clayton Valley

October 24th - Mt. Diablo @ Ygnacio Valley

October 30th - Ygnacio Valley @ Clayton Valley

November 7th - Concord @ Ygnacio Valley

November 7th - Mt. Diablo @ Northgate

I would not say Any DVAL Teams Non League Schedule was very impressive, Here is overall records (37 & 69) of the teams played by the DVAL.

Clayton: 6 & 16 (Liberty being only team with winning record at 3 & 1)

Concord: 6 & 15 (San Ramon being only team with winning record at 3 & 1)

College Park: 11 & 12 (Alhambra & Serra both with winning records)

Mt Diablo: 7 & 15 (lost to only team with Winning record)

Northgate: 7 & 11 (have not played a team with a winning record)

I would say College park has played the toughest Non league Schedule followed by Concord because of there game against San Ramon who would be 2nd best team on DVAL Non league schedule to Serra.

The DVAL is Wide Open this year which should be Fun !!!

How can you say that College Park got a huge win by beating Freedom?  Freedom is 0-5 and has been getting waxed all year.  College Park must not be very good if they were only able to win by 3.

Isnt the North Salinas team that Clayton played 1-4 after that loss? Doesnt sound like that team was very good either and Clayton only won by one score
