Seems like the "natives are getting restless" here ... lots of names being bandied about, but no action from SB. The comment from PN seems pretty telling that *he's* not happy with the state of things. Is SB on vacation, or something? Tick-tock, Ms. Barbour.

Oh my God. It's been a whole week since Braun was fired. What is Sandy doing? How can she take so long? Don't you know we need a decision now before there are no coaches left? Oh, the agony we Cal fans have to go through. The horror. The horror. -- Lawrence C. Sure you want to move quickly but the NCAA were still in progress so give it a little time. Ben was around for 12 years, I think waiting a few more weeks is possible. Hey if Cal gets the right coach, a month is no biggie...if Cal gets the right coach. BTW, DJ Steely the 4-star says he's still committed to Cal.
That's the thing about Cal that people over look...the school on its own is a great place, great campus, great education, great wacky college town...major/top 10 university, what's not to like. With top facilities (for Pac 10 hoops), the educational/social factor taken care of...Cal has all the tools to recruit and win.

I like the fact that SB already offered the Pitt coach the job. Who knows maybe she is trying to sweeten things so he can be the coach... She is definitely going after great coaches if the Pitt coach is any indication and that will take time. I am convinced that SB and the big-time Cal boosters will find and pay for what ever it takes to get a great coach. But it may take some time so settle down.

Gosh, hopefully there are a lot of good candidates so it might take some time to make a decision. I'm sure the kids and possible recruits want to know who the coach will be, but they must understand how important it is not to jump the gun. The basketball season isn't even over yet.

The point was that A) none of the names have (evidently) even been contacted and B) (more importantly) the program's icon is making press statements about one of these prospects. He wouldn't be doing so with an uncontacted coach if all were well, now would he?

And if I were to contact coaches, of course I'd send out a press release. Because the fans are number one on my mind as I take steps to evaluate and then interview prospective coaches. As for Pete Newell, who knows why he comments on one candidate or another? SB makes the decision, not Newell. Been 58 years since he was on the Cal sidelines. Great if he has a comment, but the decision is the AD's. Thanks for calling me a genius!
