My brother was assaulted in front of our house last night. We live off of El Monte Dr. We live in a court. Our house is on the corner. My brother got home late last night and was getting out of his car, wallet in hand and was suddenly struck in the head by a metal object. One of the kids took his wallet from his hand and started to run. Two kids (unknown race) wearing black hooded sweatshirts. My brother chased them towards a new park near our house. While in chase the teens dropped his wallet. We of course called Oakley PD and they were hear withing a minute! Very good response time! As of right now no one has been caught. Fortunately my brother was not seriously injured. What if they would of had a knife or gun?! What if they would of hit an elderly person? Would they stoop that low? The thing about this that P*%&#@S me off is that we moved out of a high crime town out here to Oakley to get away from this kind of stuff!! What are we going to do about the trouble in this neighborhood? I don't know who to talk to about this issue. I know of a couple houses with teenager's that have been a problem around here for over a year. What do I do? Any suggestion's please reply to my post.

I know how you feel. I lived in Antioch, had difficulty with the "kids" that went to the school on Knollcrest. So, my boyfriend lived in Oakley, seemed nice, so I moved to Oakely. I moved to a house on Chianti Dr. Neighbors were great. They said they'd watch out for me knowing I"m a single Mother. Said everyone had lived there for years no problems. They all watch out for each other. I thought COOL!! The neighbors next door to me had parties ALL the time! So I would just ignore it. My daughters spend every other weekend with their Dad. Thankfully they were at there Dad's house one fateful Saturday morning. I got up at 8am decided to run to the store. On my way home I saw a red car parked in front of my house. Thought nothing of it, because of the parties. I drove down the street, got my mail, then drove into driveway, opened garage door to pull car in. As I did this I thought I saw a 20-something white mail come out of my home. I of course saw the car race off. I thought nah! Well, yeah! They kicked the door jam in. Big foot print on the door! Took ALL my jewelry, my oldest daughters birthday money, my video camera, police scanner, went through all my FEMALE clothes! Took my flat screen computer screen, keyboard, and I guess I came home before they stole the tower to it. The cords were hanging on still. I couldn't believe it! A single Mother, home alone. I wonder if they saw me leave, or just didn't see a car parked. I often wonder what they would've done had I been in the house with car in the garage. The police showed up, gun drawn looking through house. Told me to wait outside, I asked why, I had already walked through. Apparently you're not supposed to do that encase they are hiding in the house still. DUH!! Needless to say I moved out within a few months. I just didn't feel safe. I now live with my boyfriend. AND our 3 very large DOGS!!!! I'm sorry your brother got assaulted, and robbed! It's a horrible, horrible thing! We think we're safe out here! Truth be told, Are we really safe ANYWHERE anymore?? As far a suggestions, I don' t know. Maybe talk to your neighbors, have your own neighborhood watch. Maybe when someone comes home, someone should come out and meet them so people see they're not alone. Good luck!
