This is probably the best letter I've seen on this June 3 election. You can hardly call Nix a Glover toadie. They've gone toe-to-toe on a number of issues but when all is said in done, he comes to this conclusion:
Experienced Glover gets results

Editor:
This past Saturday, like a lot of folks, I received a mailbox full of political mail. One in particular caught my eye for its blatant attempt to claim credit for a lot of hard work that this candidate had nothing to do with.
Erik Nunn’s multi-page flyer claims on pages four and five that “Erik is part of a team that has fought for the widening of HWY 4 and other much needed East County traffic improvements.” He refers to the TransPlan Board.
What Mr. Nunn didn’t say was that he had nothing to do with any of those battles. Nor did he say that he has only very recently attended a few meetings and has done nothing at those. I know that, because since the fall of 1999, I’ve represented the city of Oakley, not only at TransPlan but also at the other local joint-power agencies where the vast majority of the work takes place to improve East County transportation issues.
Mr. Nunn not only never served on any of them; I haven’t seen him attend them as a member of the public. You would think he would have if he truly cared about transportation issues. What is particularly interesting is that none of the five Oakley councilmembers will endorse Mr. Nunn. Yet, don’t we know him best?
In contrast to Mr. Nunn’s false claims, Federal Glover was a member and worked beside me, Mayor Freitas, and representatives from the cities of Brentwood and Pittsburg from 1999 forward on the ECCRF&FA, TransPlan, Highway 4 Bypass Authority, EPAC (for eBART) and CCTA.
At MTC and CCTA, Supervisor Glover has continued to ably represent East Contra Costa County. Little known is that this past year, when eBART was suffering severe funding issues, Federal and Amy Worth led the fight at MTC to secure our funding, and when it was $40 million short, he and Amy got MTC and BART to agree to spend an additional $20 million each to allow eBART to go forward without using any money from our other projects.
It took many night meetings, many phone calls, and a lot of hard work. Credit belongs to the people that do the work. Federal is one of the prime people responsible for each of our recent transportation successes.
Note, I don’t agree with everything Federal does or says, but because he is the man he is, I can tell him and he listens. Overall, he has done a lot for East County and is continuing to work on many issues, like fire services, that will take years to resolve. So I’m opposed to stopping that work and starting over with someone new that doesn’t know the issues and has to learn on the job.
That’s why I’m endorsing Federal Glover for re-election to supervisor, District Five. I urge you to vote for him as well for the same reasons.
