RELEASED to his parents??? They obviously are beyond being able to control or even influence this thug to be anything close to a responsible, productive member of society. He should be expelled from school and dropped off to juvi as mentioned already...let him throw all the signs he wants up there and we'll see how big and bad he is then. PUNK.
Why don't we get enough reporting like, what was the kids race, immigration status? how was he dressed, did he had tatoos? was he an actual gang member? how tall was the kid, how much does the kid weight, it would be important to see if he was a real threat to the cop.
Why do you need the kid's race or immigration status to form your opinion? Tattoos? How do those come into play? I suppose since I have tattoos that would make me a significant threat to police? Actual gang member? Let's see... according to the article he threw gang signs during the initial confrontation. Maybe he didn't have his membership card on him. Or maybe it's not up-to-date. And the kid's weight? What does that have to do with anything? Will it help you make an informed decision about "reasonable and necessary force" while sitting behind your computer on a Saturday morning rather than rolling around on the ground with a violent suspect who refuses to give up?
We don't pay our police to get themselves hurt, or allow others to be hurt, before taking action. I agree with the other post: he should have gotten a baton atop the head. That's the way fights were diffused back before tasers.
You don't get the info, because you don't need it. And, quite frankly, you don't deserve it. Everything you need to know is already in the article. If you can't formulate an opinion from that, then thank God you are not a cop.
Immigration matters so whe know who is making the problems.
tatoos matter, yes. because that is a sign of physcotic behavior, people who have tatoos usually have violent tendencies and problems of selfs steem. wackjobs
weight, yes, it wuld be nice to make sure the pigs are not battering children, if you need a bat to the head thats you problem,
as to the rest, if you dont get it to beguin with, whatever.
It sounds to me like this kid probably isn't a troublemaker normally, since he approached a group of kids that he *assumed* were gang members. The fact that he was throwing signs is neither here nor there . . . gang signs are more or less part of pop culture nowadays. I'm certainly not defending that, but when my son and his friends were teens, they knew all about signs without being remotely connected to gangs.
If this boy was normally a good kid who just lost it for whatever reason, I can see him being released to the custody of his parents instead of being sent to Juvenile Hall.
The info reported is the info that the police releaseed. Everyone here is critical of the reporting, but they can only report what the police tell them. In 99% of the cases, the police do not give out information or even report every inicident.
As far as Juvenille Hall goes, for most crimes Juvi Hall can tell the police they will not accept them due to lack of space. There are only certain crimes in which they have no choice. This crime isn't one of them.
The people that were there, and likely know the background, seem qualified to make the call; Despite unusual behavior this child was apparently not a perceived as an ongoing threat to himself or others and so was released to his parents. I see no reason to second guess this nor to speculate on tattoos, race, etc.
dumb enough to pick a fight with 3 students, the vice principal, and the security officer... and get tasered, dumb enough to spend the weekend in juvi.. start parenting these kids and quit making b.s. excuses for them. if someone would have been injured they would have sued the school district (us the taxpayer).. and won.
We simply do not know. We do know that for an unknown reason a child seemed to be attempting to pick a fight with other children and resisted attempts by adults to stop this. We know that after the dust cleared the child was released to his parents. We don't know why this child acted the way he did nor why the decision was made to release to parents rather than the seemingly logical cooling off in juvenile hall. It's possible he is in the custody of juvenile hall but under their home supervision program.
Yeah there are details we don't know. But the outline is so common that we all can assume pretty accuratly what happened. We don't need to know why he picked a fight or fought with the faculty. It doesn't matter he should not be doing it for any reason. The track record is perfectly clear here in the criminal garden state. If you don't deal with this kind of personality firmly and swiftly he will be moving up the criminal behavior latter. When he robs your home or shots an innocent citizen will you still be more concerned as to what good reason he may have had. Grow a back bone.

There are many basic facts we don't know. There's no reason to play a FUD game based on the little information available.
