Just a request May 15 is National Peace Officer's Memorial Day Public Law 103-322 designates Peace Officers Memorial Day as one of only two days each year during which all government agencies, businesses and residents are required to fly their U.S. flags at half staff. Please if you have a Flag in front of you home please fly it at half staff in honor of all of the Police Officers who have died in the line of duty across the nation.
Having been to the National Memorial in D.C. and having friends names engraved on the wall there, I hope everyone will do this simple task. Visit the Memorial site at www.NLEOMF.com the memorial is truly inspiring and the only Memorial that has too many new names added each year.

Sorry, but this just doesn't go far enough to honor the fallen peace-keepers for me. There should be parades, bagpipes, and politicans/local dignitaries remembering, espousing the sacrificies and time that these men and women spent the time to protect us, giving their life. Flying a flag at half-staff should only be the beginning of an observance of these heros...
Best wishes to the families of these fallen heros: know that they did not pass in vain, but that they protected all of us in their pursuit of justice. That they passed away is most unfortunate, since we no longer have their dedication to protecting the rest of us. They will all be missed... May they not be forgotten.

There is a host of events In D.C. durring the week, usually concluded by a re-dedication of the Memorial. A candle light vigil is held durring the week, where the new names are read off. The Memorial itself is one of the more moving monuments in D.C., in my opinion equal to the Vietnam Memorial. As funny as it sounds the entire week is a celebration of the lives of those Officers. I think President Bush said it best at the dedication in 1991 "IT IS NOT HOW THESE OFFICERS DIED THAT MADE THEM HERO'S, BUT HOW THEY LIVED"
I also encourage anyone to visit the Memorial in Sacramento, across the street from the Capitol on Capitol Mall,
