In response to the deep need of students attending the Pittsburg Unified School District’s (PUSD) Elementary schools after school program and families in Pittsburg, the Success Through Self (STS) Academy proposes the creation of a after school soccer program at each PUSD elementary school. This program will be called the Pittsburg Afterschool Soccer Program and is a joint effort by the STS Academy, the City of Pittsburg’s Recreation Department, Bay Area Soccer Academy, and Pittsburg Unified School District.

The Pittsburg Afterschool Soccer Program will improve students’ social skills, life skills, physical activity and provide a hook for engaging youth in the love of learning. The Pittsburg Afterschool Soccer Program is an outreach from the Pittsburg After School Program and will support the families of participating students through programs that build parents’ literacy levels, promote reading, and help families connect with avenues to find jobs and increase vocational skills. It is our belief that a high quality after school program can help at-risk youth improve academic outcomes, build leadership skills, and promote success during the regular school day

STS is the lead agency for Pittsburg Afterschool Soccer Program.
