Since the last board meeting have any of the board members investigated alternative budget cuts in an effort to save programs for the children? If no; WHY NOT?

Does the board intent to investigate any alternatives to help out the children? If not; WHY NOT?

Why are the only proposed budget cuts directly related to the education level: read children?

Why can't the board cut $420,000.00 from the District Office to at least keep the class size reduction program?

Why is the District Office never impacted by budget cuts?

Does the board really care so little for the children that they will only cut funding at the level that effects the children?

Why does it appear that the elected board works for Barbara Wilson (Superintendent) not the people who elected them?

From the District website: http://www.pittsburg.k12.ca.us/

"Our School Board took the necessary, but devastating action on February 27 to notify nearly 100 employees that their jobs will be lost. This level of job loss means that we will have larger class sizes, fewer custodians and secretaries. Many of the programs that we subsidize to support our students from less fortunate circumstances will be eliminated." - Barbara B. Wilson, Ph.D, Superintendent

Again why is the District Office left untouched when the programs to support our students from less fortunate circumstances are being eliminated?

From Superintendent Dr. Barbara Wilson - http://www.pittsburg.k12.ca.us/super.htm

"Support public education during California’s budget crisis. The students of Pittsburg Unified School District must have adequate funding in order to continue toward academic excellence. You can use the attached sample letter to legislators and personalize as needed. If we all work together, our voices will be heard!"

Why does the good Doctor Wilson act like there is nothing that can be done at the local level?

Do you the public "buy" this passing the buck mentality? And if she believes the students must have adequate funding why does her budget proposal only deal with cutting at the education level? Link to proposal: http://www.pittsburg.k12.ca.us/sup_files/PUSDFeb5%20Budget%20Presentatio...

Some other things you may not have heard will be cut: Transportation for Summer school. Crossing Guards - serious crossing guards – they appear to care so little for the children they profess to help that they are no longer concerned about the safety of the children? Athletics

Can or will the Board or Superintendent answer any of these questions? If not why do they continue to work for YOU!?

This may be a silly question but why can't the local school district recruit companies to place their name on the school for a fee similar to what we now see at our Stadiums. I would think that this would generate income for our local school programs. It would be a great way for companies to give back to their communites and gain support for their products from parents who have children in that school. Since all the School Districts want to do is report the cuts that will need to be made to the students maybe it's time that the parents take control and find solutions to the problem. No doubt there has to be some parents with brilliant minds that could contribute to fixing the problem at their local schools

YES! If government refuse to spend money in our future, we MUST! Yes, the more parent involvement, the better education our youth will receive. Look at other cities, they go further, they involve the parents. That does more than just solve our government problems. It does give the sense of ownership to both, parents and students. That's what's missing in our schools. We MUST invest in our future.
