QUALITY OF LIFE: Loud car stereos, panhandlers and street vendors

It seems to me that it's time to organize an effort to improve the quality of life in our communities. Car stereos which can he heard for blocks, panhandlers creating driving distractions on freeway on-ramps and intersections, street vendors who peddle fruit, flowers, food and textiles. Frankly, America seems to be on the verge of becoming a third world country. The car stereo noise is easy. It's already against the law (CVC Section 27007), with fines begining at around $125. Why won't our police enforce this law? Street vendors and panhandlers are a little more complex, but certainly something can be done..... Only when we decide we've had enough will the problem go away. What do you say?

We have increasingly become a third world country for the past 20 years.  Look now not even immigrants want to come here... It's time to organize neighborhood watch groups.  Not knowing your neighbors is a think of the past...Call the police, report, report, report.  The law is nothing without re-enforcement.  We the people who care MUST GET INVOLVED! Poverty always leads to this issues.  Things will not get better, they will get worst.  Getting involved is a MUST. As for our youth, they need government to re-invest in our future.  More schools, more recreational activities provided FREE of charge, let's keep our youth bussy, and focused in education. Government tends to cut, cut, cut and point fingers.  It is up to us, to make sure our youth is our local government's number one priority. I was there at City Council speaking against City of Pittsburg privatizing our City Park...You are correct, we MUST organize.  Government and the law will not work for us poor folk...

The City Park is a fine example of a wasted space-The eucalyptus trees used to hide every kind of illegal activity you could think of.  Why not turn it into a community garden (with veggies and everything) and get the younger people involved in a project.  The food could be divided up or even distributed to local charities.  Think of what children could learn from this and think of the pride it would bring to the community.

At any Pittsburg shopping market parking lot (Safeway, Raleys, Walmart...) and gas stations, you will be hit up by panhandlers!
