I can't really say. I wanted to go there once after a basketball game. It was Friday night about 9:30, so I called Stoney from my cell to see if he wanted to meet me there. He answered his phone and said, "What are calling so late for? You woke us up!" After feeling bad about that for approximately 30 seconds, I decided to stop in and check it out. They had a big DJ mixing board set up for the Friday night music that was going to start soon. I was hungry and didn't want to sit down in the dining room and eat by myself and the bar area was pretty well packed, so I just went across the street to the In-N-Out drive thru.
I've been meaning to go back, but haven't made it out there yet so can't give any feedback myself. It took over the spot vacated by the former Mosquito Lounge.
Had lunch there the other day, not bad. The pulled pork was good, service was very good, plenty of flat screens with just about any sport that was on. They need a little more sports memorabilia up but not a bad place. Will have to check it out in the evening though.
I and a few buds (not the beers) will check it out Wednesday for lunch and let you know our take, too! However, will miss the Mosquito Lounge.

They could use a bit more "atmosphere". The place is kind of cold. As for the food, the place wasn't that busy and it took quite a while for our meals to arrive. I had the pulled pork sandwich. I guess it was OK but definitely not a true pulled pork in the traditional sense, meaning it wasn't smoked. The menu says roasted in beer. All I could taste was the BBQ sauce. I didn't hear any complaints from anyone else at the table about their dishes but that may have been because BazookaJoe was too busy trying to read the manufacturer's name on the bottom of the cool square plate his food was on without spilling it all over him; he was nursing a sore neck from bending his head back to see the plasma screen right over our table; and Roy and WhirledPeas were lost in another world daydreaming about the painted-on swimsuit in the latest Sports Illustrated.
So what? I wanted to see if the plate was lead-free. I always do that. I thought we were there to give a review? If you would have checked your plates more often growing up you wouldn't be the way you are. Don't you think it's the first thing people think about? Haven't you read about all the lead products imported from China lately? Where did you think fine china comes from, Japan???
Seriously, I had a good time at Red Rhino. Roy had the regular fish and chips lunch, but I ordered the fish and chips wrap sandwich. Whirlpeas had another type of wrap, and we both commented on how nice the actual wrap shell on the sandwich tasted. It was thick and chewy, and grilled. The cole slaw I picked for a side was good too. All in all, I can't complain. Especially since I didn't pick up the check. I would recommend the wrap.
Oh, and as far as the plate goes, it didn't have any marking on it at all to indicate either way. Since I haven't had any ill effects since eating off of it, I'm guessing it's lead safe and NSF approved for human consumption. Probably ok for animals like Stoney too.

BJ, they can change our board format but please, don't ever let them change
your humour. I look forward to a good laugh before retiring.
I probably won't change Smokey. It's funny how I say that to you and it makes you happy, but I say it to my wife, and it makes her depressed. I don't get it?
If you're talking about the unique appearance of my baby blues and the...er...posture issue, that wasn't the result of the lead content of our tableware. Mercury poisoning from the tanning process they used in my Davy Crockett coon skin caps when I was a kid is the most likely culprit. That and years of exposure to red dye #3 in Fruit Stripe gum, Cool Aid and Hawaiian Punch.
If you want to get a feeling for the "bar" listen to your scanners on Friday or Saturday night after 10 pm....it will give you a better understanding as to what type of business they are trying to promote/attract....
Heard that the place is becoming a big time gang hang out BPD seems to be keeping a very close eye on the place around closing time. Heard one of my younger cop friends that he walked in and out real quick after seeing a sea of red just inside the door one night, didn't think it was a good place to take his wife.
I and some friends wanted a place to go after work closer to our jobs. We've been there about 3 times, and each time there have been a number of problems: out of draft beer during happy hour, out of every type of Cabernet, waiting 45 minutes for an entre to be served, overcharged for items, etc., etc....to the point of near hilarity, if we weren't so hungry and thirsty. We're back to Schooners: cozier, better food, great service, homemade beer....Oh well.
Johnny Carinos or Chili's, would be good alternatives. Nines has some killer deep fried zucchini and nice ambiance, too.
