There is no apartment complex on Locust Street, certainly not in the 1200 block. It's Olympia Place, the parking garage for the movie theater, and it happened in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. Something that is rather worrisome for anyone parking there, and for anyone with an elderly parent who might park there.
That's the kind of information we need to make ourselves and our families safer. Newspapers should provide us with these details - but since they didn't , guess Soccer Mom's got our back!
C'mon, Contra Costa Times, this is a website. This isn't a print publication, where the text is set permantly in ink.
You can easily correct the information in your story that you continue to publish online.
Why haven't you done so?
This crime DID NOT take place in an apartment complex, because, duh, there is no such apartment complex on Locust Street. Either a police officer gave you bum information or your reporter made incorrect assumptions. After reading the Time report Saturday morning, I myself called the cops to make sure I had published the correct information on my own website, http://crazyinsuburbia.blogspot.com/2009/02/second-suspect-charged-in-very.html. I was assured by the watch commander on duty that the crime took place in the Olympia Place parking structure.
Perhaps this isn't news that some in the city would want to get out. Carjackers in popular parking garages? But it's information that we all need to know--people who live, shop, and visit Walnut Creek.
The location of this crime was also reported on another Walnut Creek-based website, the DubC. http://thedubc.blogspot.com/
This is a small but vital detail for anyone who parks in this complex. And that's A LOT of people. On a daily basis.
The Times need to run a correction in its print pages, and it needs to correct the online version of this story as soon as possible. Truly, this is an issue of public safety, and we all have a right to know the truth.

He was arrested by Walnut Creek and Concord Officers. The Times "borrowed" this story from theDUBC.blogspot.com who reported it a couple days ago.

How ANYONE does ANYTHING to an 80 year old besides helping them across the street or mowing their lawn is beyond me. Disgusting
