The administrator of the CCT Forums should pay closer attention to spamers. Anyone who posts more than a few times within a few minutes should be flagged. The technology exists! Why isn't it being used? If I were interested in shoes, purses, belts, etc. I would Google it. Please make the SPAM stop on the messages boards!

I second that, between the spam to buy prescription drugs illegally and Ohso's cut and spams, it's like reading a newspaper with nothing but paid ads.

This guy Polar has been poking around for a few days. I thought he might be a little kid, but obviously he was making sure his techniques were ready for this morning's massive blitz.

You can't make posts on the forums without registering with the Times, right? Isn't there a way for them to trace who these clowns are that pull this crap and bring legal action against them? Or isn't there any legal recourse? If there isn't, there should be. Either that, or a virtual public tar & feathering.

looks like all the spam is coming in on the "San Pablo" forum. I have been able to by-pass the spam using the induvidual forums ( such as Contra Costa County or Antioch)  and not using the "recent posts".

Good call Cowboy. That is some good investigative work. Is there any way we can just delete San Pablo from the forums?

Don't know if CCT Admin could do that. Anybody have their E-Mail ?

I already e-mailed them this morning and also left voicemails with anyone on their contact list that had anything with "online" in their title. Doubt if it will do much good on a weekend though. That's why these jerks pull this crap on weekends.

I think that by removing San Pablo from the forums, it would disenfranchise the legitimate posters from San Pablo. I personally think that posters that start the spamming should be blocked. Remove the spammers, not the city. They will just find another little used forum to dump their garbage.  The city of San Pablo may not be a wealthy city, but it does have its own college (unlike Richmond, who covets our college) and the  money that we get from the Lytton Tribe is shared with the neighboring communities.

TinRoof, I was just kidding about removing San Pablo from the forums. My wife was born there. I'm glad the Times came through and deleted all of Polar's threads. They did the same thing tonight with another loser spammer.

Sorry 001 I didn't catch your humor, but my thought was to close the "San Pablo Forum" on which the spam was coming in on, which would still leave all the other forums for the nice citizens of San Pablo to post on. I in no way meant to disenfranchise the great citizens of San Pablo of their right to access this board.

Think I can now drive thru the wonderful City of San Pablo without rotten tomatoes being tossed at my car?

I think you're good to go Cowboy. But you may want to keep your windows up just in case.

001,

I know you were kidding and I was being a little hypersensitive about San Pablo. Being surrounded by the 9th most violent city in the US has that effect on a person.

I'm also glad that the moderator has taken the spam off. Do you think anyone really buys these products off the CCTimes forums? I think  the next time a spammer strikes I'm going to make fun of the poster and the product. After all, if they're intentionally being annoying, shouldn't we all make lemonade from the lemons and have some fun?

Jaysus.  Yell

I love the idea of the virtual tar and feathering.

Cowboy, thanks for the heads-up.  Although I prefer to use Recent Posts for its convenience, this is freakin' ridiculous.
