For Pete's sake, Administrator of the Forum. How hard can it be? There are plenty of jobless software experts that can point you in the right direction to STOP THE SPAM!! PLease fix this.
The forum admins at big companies don't always have control over what software the corporation decrees that they install and manage. The admins just end up taking the heat for stupid executive decisions. I'd lay good money that the execs at CCTimes don't much care about the forums and haven't provided the funds or staffing needed. (Very old media mentality no doubt. Been there.)
That said, I totally agree with samiamnot that there are many steps that could have been taken after the first outbreak that apparently weren't. The editor widget indicates that word filtering is in place but it doesn't seem set to flag certain pharmacuticals. Also, why are multiple links allowed in a post? So much more.
Maybe disable new accounts and disable html until you can mitigate the current attack and get some patches or updates installed.
They did catch one early a few days ago, and eliminated it within a half hour or so. However, this is the 3rd one this week that I am aware of, and it is getting old. This one is using multiple screen names, but the result is the same. It makes it difficult to navigate the forums. I hope they can shut this one down quickly.
Great, here's another Spammer. That is the 4th one this week. It looks like the same one from this morning that is using multiple screen names. Disable them Times!
