If this were my child hanging onto dear life, I would be livid! Someone needs to do an investigation on the reasoning behind wasting precious time with a young man's life...we deserve answers!
"Medical crews wanted to take the victim to John Muir Medical Center in Concord, but the hospital was not accepting any patients at the time. A medical helicopter was called to take the boy to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley instead.
The helicopter landed at Dana Plaza, but by then John Muir was again accepting patients."
When hospital emergency rooms are full to the point that they can not care for any more patients the hospital goes on "bypass" status until they are able to accept more in-coming patients. All patients are then routed to the next nearest hospital. This is not uncommon for area trauma center hospitals. Also Eden Medical Center is a trauma center hospital. _______________________________________ That's just my opinion, but I could be Wrong.
Our local trauma center would be John Muir WALNUT CREEK, not Concord. Why was that not the first option, or mentioned as being on bypass, if it was. If one of my kids was injured in beating like that, I would want them to be taken to a Level 1 Trauma Center, not to an emergency room, no matter how good the hospital was (JMMC Concord Campus is not designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center). JMMC Walnut Creek, Eden, Childrens Oakland, get them there, fast.
nobody know the other party goer that was fighting ? if anything they should both be charged with disturbing the police and since they are under 18 their parents should be made to pay for the police, helicopter, hospital bills, etc. not us the TAXPAYER...
