A 17-year-old boy was killed Monday night and two other teens injured in a suspected drunken driving off-road motorcycle crash on a narrow dirt path in Martinez, police said today.
The Contra Costa County coroner's office identified the boy who was killed as Eric Elford, a Martinez resident.
The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. on a levee path about half a mile north of Waterfront Road, police said.
Police found the three teenagers off the path in a marsh area.
Elford was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old passenger on Elford's bike sustained moderate injuries and 19-year-old driver of the second bike sustained only minor injuries, police said.
Neither of the off-road motorcycles had lights and police believe the teenagers had been drinking.

Kids think they are immune to injury. I know I did when I was young. Heartfelt prayers to the families involved.
