It didn't take him long to recover and return to a life of crime.

Shoplifting AND on probation?? And do any of us have any doubt in our minds that this young man was in fact taunting that tiger? I don't think so. All I have to say is, what goes around, comes around. This may be a small shred of justice for Tatiana, the tiger. And did this guy really need the negative media attention while he's filing a law suit against the city and the zoo? What an idiot, lol!!!! I hope he gets the maximum sentence, and that his ridiculous law suit is thrown out of court. Obviously this isn't a very credible individual we're talking about here.

What a worthless individual.

Good luck getting a penny out of SF county following your many mischievous actions.

Good looking young man... I'm sure he couldn't be responsible for anything these horrible people are saying about him... hey, wait a minute, where's my wallet? Paul?

Maybe if he gets some time out of this people could stand outside his jail cell and throw things at him.

Excellent idea! I bet he isn’t smart enough to figure out how to free himself either. But, if he only gets something like community service, I hope it’s as a chew toy for Ziegfreid & Roy’s pets.

But wait, he's innocent, didn't you all know that? He would NEVER shoplift, cause he NEVER pissed off that tiger....Yah right!! Once a punk, always a punk.

ANYONE who taunts an animal is one small step away from abusing children and the elderly. He's a punk and a beautiful animal had to die because of his actions.

He's not the brightest guy in the world but that doesn't excuse the fact that Alameda and San Jose counties are trying to save SF county from paying out the [bleep]. This is an obvious smear campaign aimed at keeping San Francisco from paying to settle the negligence suit. I know plenty of good kids who'd tease animals behind gates- that's part of the mischevious nature of being kids. Kids in my neighborhood taunted my dog everyday on their way to school- That doesn't mean the kids should be killed if/when the animal gets loose. SF is at fault for the tiger being able to get out of its enclousure -period. And no matter how you attempt to villianize the youth who provoked the incident, that 's the bottom line.

Obvious smear campaign? I doubt that Alameda or Santa Clara County care in the slightest what SF pays out. Perhaps they actually pursue felony convictions in their jurisdictions when they occur? The reason this is in the media is that it became a public interest story because of the ties to the Zoo tragedy. If this guy had become valedictorian of his high school class or an Eagle Scout, it would have made news too. But he looks to be much more apt to bring on the negative type of publicity.

Big difference here. This guy isn't a "kid" and is obviously a total punk. I would be glad if this lawsuit got thrown out of court. He doesn't deserve a dime!!!

"Good kids" don't abuse animals. Evil kids do. Hopefully some caring adult will help them develop a sense of right from wrong before their character hardens into place, so they don't end up preying on society and being jailed at taxpayer expense. I am curious as to how alias's poor dog got taunted by the neighborhood schoolchildren. Was the dog minding its own business in its own yard, like Tatiana was before she snapped? Or was it racing back and forth just behind the front fence barking at every person who walked by on the public street?

Can you imagine the mauling he will get if he tries to tease the inmates by throwing peanuts at them..

I believe I read somewhere that many serial killers abused and tortured animals as children.

I've heard the same thing. I really don't think someone his age firing projectiles from point blank range with a high powered sling shot at a supposedly defenseless animal is the same as a little kid yapping back a dog. I wonder how many times these delinquents "visited" the Lions before Tatiana finally snapped and retaliated?

Good time to get that chain gang set up because there are alot of major idiots we can put on it including this jerk. Some men are just no good. He is an example of one of them. In order to save the taxpayers money and to be able to divert some of the cash being spent on these idiotic criminals to the school system, all crminals and their families should have to pay all expenses associated with the crimes they commit. This means they should pay for any cost/resources associated with their crime: police, emergency, ALL property damage, court costs, all attorney fees for public defenders, jail cells, utilities, space and food costs associated with jail time, etc. These thugs should get nothing for free. They should literally pay for being a drain on the public. Think of all the money we'd have to spend on education and schools instead of having to pay the way of these scumbags. Let them pay for all they do and all the problems they cause! NO MORE FREEBIES FOR THUGS!!

Perfect irony, if found guilty as charged. He'll be the prey in a cage full of hungry, angry tigers. But these tigers won't be shot for mauling the new guy. He'll have to grow a pair of eyes in the back of his head and be on high alert for lurking predators. He should have to pay for the tiger that was destroyed if found guilty. I may be wrong but I don't ever remember of a tiger getting loose and mauling or killing a zoo patron. Look out behind you....here kitty, kitty, kitty.........

Did Tatiana's taunters actually have a slingshot? I thought I read that the police couldn't find one and that the slingshot theory was just a rumor.

I really don't remember know, its been such a long time. I believe this ocurred on Christmas day. I thought I remembered they had used a slingshot, and I pictured one of these things firing high-powered projectiles. Even if they were "just throwing rocks", it is still a terrible act. I guess the DA should know by know what actual evidence there is. I'm sure the Zoo's defense team would know that as well.
