Love how people call that "vibrant." But the people have spoken, so be it.

What a great victory for Walnut Creek. A vibrant city indeed, and rightfully the envy of many others for our bustling shopping and cultural district. Equally important is the defeat of the voices of the past, some of whom don't even live here any more, and fail to embrace WC's present much less its future. Also a defeat of outside special interests who made us go through this whole nonsense in the first place. Thanks to the voters of our fare city, tonight was a landslide victory for common sense.

how much pollution does W.C. promote with consant running of Air Conditioners and Heaters in their oh so vibrant cement maze of bumper to bumper metal, idling gas emmisions into the atmosphere.

How about expanding on the city park instead the shopping mall.

Is the new Neiman Marcus going to be as green as the new World Trade Center #7.  #7 is currently the greenest office building on earth.

If ever there was one! We'll be seeking our "vibrancy" elsewhere, but those who voted for it will enjoy their "victory" and newfound "vibrancy." For my family, it just means we'll have to avoid the aea in the future!

Good news for walnut creek.   I'm sure my wife will be happy too, hehe.   I like downtown walnut creek.  Lots of places to eat and lots of good stores to shop at.   I usually park over on locust and walk over.  Saves the hassle of parking.  Or park at the movie theatre garage.

Are you ready for all the construction, the mess, the traffic? And for what? An upscale store that no one is interested in and cannot afford. Have you tried to park at Broadway shopping center? it's a nightmare. For us folks that live in the area, thanks for nothing.

For all the people crying about no parking: There are tons, TONS of parking lots and garages all around the perimeter of downtown Walnut Creek, park and WALK, patronize the smaller, local merchants outside of the busy corridors, EXPLORE.  People park and walk around downtown SF without complaining, so get out of your SUVs and start walking!

Irate, your moniker suggests that you have a very narrow emotional response range. It does not seem to allow for approval or joy.

In response to your claims about parking nioghtmares, I have to laugh. I NEVER have a problem parking downtown. If you are a nearby local, you ought to be walking downtown unless you are disabled. If you really need a parking spot, the City's Broadway garage is never full.

The upscale store may not be needed or wanted by you but I suspect that Neiman and Broadway Plaza have excellent marketing research and that the store will be successful.

Several local towns nearby have dull downtowns with free parking and no traffic. Places where the sidewalks conveniently roll up at sunset. Perhaps you would prefer to move to one of them instead of continuing to suffer from your nightmares in Walnut Creek.
